Ms Woodson has performed as a soloist throughout the United States in opera and musical theater. Her most enriching experience, however, came within the cabaret genre as a solo concert artist.
Having sung at Maldonado’s Supper Club in Pasadena, and later, as owner of Rhapsody Supper Club, also in Pasadena, Ms Woodson had the opportunity to produce, choreograph, create musical arrangements, and sing in every show. Ms Woodson says: “Owning Rhapsody was a very satisfying experience. We could do anything we wanted and we were very successful.”
Growing up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and singing with church and school choirs gave Ms. Woodson a love of the choral sound and ensemble singing. This led from moving from within the choir to in front of it as the conductor.
Ms. Woodson studied choral conducting with Ronald Shirey, head of the choral department at Texas Christian University, Paul Salamunovich, former conductor of the Los Angeles Master Chorale, and Dr. Iris Levine, conductor and founder of “Vox Femina” of Los Angeles, California. Ms. Woodson also currently conducts the Chancel Choir at First Presbyterian Church, Newhall, and the High Holiday Choir of the Pasadena Jewish Temple.
Ms. Woodson has served as Director/Conductor of the
Ojai Community Chorus since 2005.
