Calling All Singers!

The Ojai Community Chorus is seeking members to participate in its spring concert, “Rodgers @ Hart @ and Hammerstein, Too!”  The concert will feature a tribute to the musical genius of Richard Rodgers. In addition, to commemorate the chorus’ 30th season of providing concerts to the community, the chorus will present songs that express gratitude for the gift of music in our lives and for the opportunity to bring that gift to others. The performances will be held May 6 and 7 and will be led by long-time director Connie Woodson, who brings years of expertise in producing entertaining shows for all ages.

Registration and rehearsals will begin on Monday, Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ojai United Methodist Church, 120 Church Road. Rehearsals will be held on Mondays from 6:45 until 9:15 p.m. and participants may register through Feb. 21. The registration fee is $65. There are no formal auditions, however chorus members are expected to have a basic familiarity with music, have the ability to sing and hold a part, and are committed to attending rehearsals. Male voices are especially needed.

In addition to learning to sing various styles of music, singers will also be taught valuable vocal and performance techniques. The chorus offers an opportunity for local residents to sing with a group in a relaxed and upbeat setting.

Those who have limited music experience but are still interested in being a part of the chorus may call Marilyn at 640-0468.
